Our next campout will take place the weekend of April 15-17, when we’ll do a backpacking trip to Zaleski State Forest in southeastern Ohio. This is a required trip for all High Adventure participants this year but is also open to all other Scouts and parents who have been on at least one Troop 850 campout. This will be the perfect opportunity for Scouts who have not yet been backpacking to give it a try. We will take both a shorter trail for first-timers and a longer trail for the more experienced backpackers, with both groups meeting to camp together both nights at a pre-arranged meeting point.
Anyone planning to go who has not previously backpacked will be required to bring their fully-packed gear to the troop meeting on April 12 so that we can make sure they are properly prepared for the weekend. A gear list is available on the website, and the troop (as well as some of our adults) has some loaner backpacks available if you wish to go but don’t have a backpack yet–available first come-first served. If you have questions, please contact Mr. Ogilvie, Mr. Rottmueller or Mr. Hertlein.
