Fall Backpacking Trip

This year’s Fall Backpacking Trip will be in Zaleski State Park near Athens, Ohio the weekend of November 18-20.  The cost is $ 35 per person.  Scouts must be 1st Class rank or above and have backpacking experience.  Please complete the permission slip below and return with payment by November 15th .    Click

2012 Merit Badge Challenge

Below are 2 documents with details on Merit Badge Challenge held in January and February.   These will be passed out at our Troop meetings, but if you would like to get a jump on registration or will be missing meetings, the information is available now.

The deadline for registration is November 15th.   We will register together as a Troop, so please follow the instructions on the first document, and do not mail in your registration.  Click

Pancake Breakfast Turn-in Deadline

Reminder: All Pancake Breakfast ticket money and any unsold tickets are due this Tuesday, October 25th. Please put your money and unsold tickets in an envelope. Indicate the following information on the envelope…your name, number of adult and child tickets sold and the total amount of money.  Any advance sale ticket money turned in after Tuesday’s troop meeting will NOT be credited to your personal account. If you have any questions or need additional tickets, please contact Angie Dwyer at or 404.9496.

Combo Campout at Cub World – Nov 4–6

Troop 850’s next campout is our annual Joint Campout with the Cub Scouts of Pack 850 on the weekend of November 4-6.   There is no charge for this campout, since it is considered a service to our fellow St. Ignatius Scouts.  Please turn in the attached permission slip by Tuesday November 1st.   Click

Includes pancakes with homemade blueberry syrup, sausage and coffee, milk or juice

Court of Honor

Please plan to attend the Troop 850 Court of Honor this Tuesday Oct 11th at 7:00 pm.  All parents and families are encouraged to attend to celebrate the achievements of our Scouts.  A slide show of the Perryville campout will be shown while refreshments are served.

Payments Due for Tee Shirts

A reminder that payment was due September 27 for t-shirts which the boys took
home in May and June. If you have not already paid, please refer to the letter
you received with the shirts for the amount you owe.  Or you may contact Chas
Hertlein for the amount.  It is very important for the troop bank account that
shirts be paid for.  Make checks payable to Troop 850 and give them to Chas

Pancake Ticket – pickup tuesday 10/4 between 7-8PM

Reminder – Tuesday 10/4 is a committee meeting from 7 – 8 PM in the cafeteria – all parents are encouraged to attend.

Pancake tickets were distributed last week but several packets have not been picked up – scouts should stop by the cafeteria Tuesday evening between 7-8 PM and pick up their tickets.  A large portion of pre-sale tickets go directly to the scout’s account to help pay for/offset activities.  This is a great way to help the troop and for the scouts to save for the high-adventure trips!

Pancake Breadfast Fundraiser

Our pancake breakfast will be Sunday morning Oct 30th.  This and the spaghetti dinner are the two fundraising events Troop 850 hosts to raise money to support the troops many activities.  Thanks to Kelly Reupert’s leadership the basket raffle at these events continute to be large portion of the proceeds!

I would like to ask everyone to consider asking your employer for a donation to support this upcoming fundraiser.  Kelly is a master at crafting unique baskets – whether it’s cash, gift cards, merchandise donations or sporting event tickets she always creates the perfect basket for any occassion.  We will have donor recognition posters displayed recognizing and thanking all donors.

Another option to consider is cashing in any “reward” points you may have on a frequently used credit card.  Gift cards for local stores, restaurants, and other rewards would be most welcome.

Upon request all donors will receive a letter recognizing the donation for tax purposes if they so desire.

Perryville Campout Sept 30 – Oct 2

Troop 850 will be attending the Perryville Civil War Battle Reenactment over the weekend of September 30 – October 2.  Perryville is located southwest of Lexington, KY about a 2 ½ hour drive from Cincinnati.  Persmission Slips, Waivers, and Payment ($35) are due September 20th.  For more information, go to
