Join Troop 850
Membership in Troop 850 is open to boys beginning in the second half of the sixth grade through age 18. In fact, one of the exciting aspects of Scouting for many new members is the opportunity to interact with (and learn from) boys their own age through high school age. While most of our Scouts started out as Cub Scouts in St. Ignatius Cub Pack 850, experience in Cub Scouting, either in Pack 850 or otherwise, is not a requirement for joining Boy Scout Troop 850, or any other Scout Troop, for that matter. The Troop is open to all interested boys of the appropriate age.
We encourage at least one parent or guardian to join the Troop as an adult leader along with their son, but it is not required that they do so. Joining is easy. Simply fill out the official BSA form (click here for the youth form) (click here for the adult form). If you use these downloadable forms, please make three photocopies. If you prefer, simply ask us for hard copies which are three part triplicate forms. Bring completed forms to any Troop meeting (we meet at 7:00pm to 8:30pm almost every Tuesday night in the St. Ignatius School Cafeteria).
What is the cost of joining? Our dues are $100 per Scout per year first year (first year dues cover cost of handbook, one T-shirt, neckerchief), and $70 per year for adults. Of course, we will not turn away any interested boy and will waive or reduce the dues in appropriate circumstances.
Contact us if you have any questions about joining.
