Everyone going to summer camp should click on the document below. At the end of the document are listed all Scouts and Adults who have NOT turned in Medical Forms. Please check these lists.
The remainder of the file lists the Merit Badges that I was able to sign the Scouts up for today. Many of the most popular merit badges filled up quickly, so there are many gaps in some Scout’s schedules. If you did not list Alternates, you are likely to have more gaps. Email to me several alternates for each time slot you wish to fill.

Final payments for summer camp were due Tuesday 5/24. If you have not made your final payment for Summer Camp, please do so by next Tuesday’s Troop meeting. Also, merit badge selections were due Tuesday. Please email your selections or turn them in at next Tuesday’s meeting.
Less than half of the medical forms have been turned in. All Scouts and Adults must complete the official BSA medical form (see below) which includes a physical exam and your provider’s signature. Medical forms and the permission slips (see below) must be turned in no later than Tuesday June 14th at the mandatory Troop meeting for summer camp.

I’m trying an experiment – this is a link to a picasa webalbum of photos from last weekend. I know they look all sunny and nice but these were taken in rare moments of no rain.

The Troop’s recent service project weekend at Wright Patterson Air Force Base was the subject of a nice article in the base newspaper, Skywrighter. Click below to see the article.
To coordinate with the new uniform requirements which began January 1st , Troop 850 is starting a uniform exchange. If you have used uniforms (pants, shirts, belts, neckerchiefs, slides, etc.) or equipment that your scout no longer uses, please give them to Deidre Brickner. Bring all Troop 850 t-shirts to the meeting Tuesday night. Any shirts that no longer fit your scout will be put in the uniform exchange for other scouts. Lists will be provided periodically of items on hand, and scouts may take available items as needed.
Troop Contact: Deidre Brickner 741-4155, jclones1@fuse.net
Next Tuesday, May 3, is t-shirt Tuesday at the Troop’s weekly meeting. As you know, all boys attending summer camp or high adventure will be required to have a complete set of six t-shirts in six designated colors. Everyone will wear the same color each day of the trip. This makes it a lot easier to keep track of the boys both on the road and in camp. Each Scout is entitled to one new t-shirt in this year’s color as part of their annual dues payment. Additional shirts necessary to complete the set will be available for purchase at our cost. This Tuesday we ask that every Scout bring in his entire collection of Troop t-shirts (freshly laundered, please) so we can take an inventory and determine needs. We also hope that you will donate any usable t-shirts that may no longer fit your Scout back to the Troop for possible future use by younger Scouts. Once we figure out the details, we let everyone know.
Troop 850 will be rock climbing in May at Torrent Falls, located near Natural Bridge, KY about 2 ½ hours from Cincinnati. Check out the photos and other information at www.torrentfalls.com. We will be camping at Camp McKee, a Boy Scout camp 30 minutes from Torrent Falls. The cost for this campout will be $ 50 per person, the major expenses being Climbing ($ 27 Adults, $ 25 Youth, both at a discount) and gasoline.
Everyone who plans on rock climbing must complete a waiver and, in addition, all Scouts must complete 2 permissions slips, one for the Troop and one for Torrent Falls. Please turn in all required forms with payment no later than Tuesday, May 3rd.

Mr. Reilly has asked the Boys Scouts of Troop 850 to give back to St. Ignatius by helping out on Safe Shred Day. This event provides an opportunity for people to bring confidential papers, tax returns, bank statements, etc to St. Ignatius to be safely shredded.
Where: St Ignatius School parking lot
When: Saturday April 30th 9 – 11:00 am
Please tell Mr. Rottmueller no later than Tuesday April 12th if you are able to help. Scout’s hours will count as service hours for Star rank or as a troop activity for lower ranks.
The Troop will return to the Twin Lakes area of the Hoosier National Forest in Indiana the weekend of April 8-10. This will be a great trip both for our experienced backpackers and brand new Scouts who would like to try it for the first time. We’ll be divided into two groups, one to take a more challenging route and the other to take a shorter route perfect for first-timers. We’ll all meet at the same beautiful spot in the woods overlooking one of the twin lakes to camp together Saturday night. A permission slip is attached and must be returned April 5. Click here or here or here for more information about our destination.
