Craigs Creek Campout, Sept 9-11 2016
Troop 850’s next camput will be at Craigs Creek Campground, located in Kentucky at the mouth of the Laurel and Cumberland Rivers in the Daniel Boone National Forest. This will be a relaxing campout with opportunities to fish (anyone going age 16 or over who wishes to fish should get a Kentucky one day fishing license at http://fw.ky.gov/Pages/default.aspx), go on day hikes (there is a nice 5 mile hike nearby in the Cane Branch Wilderness Area that allows you to enjoy multiple rock formations, waterfalls and abundant wildlife), and to work on advancements or on completing partial merit badges. Cumberland Falls is also nearby, and the Scouts may elect to venture there one evening as well.
Last weekend, I joined friends for a relaxing campout at Craigs Creek. The sound of the flowing creek, rustling leaves, and chirping birds made it the perfect escape from the city. We spent the days hiking nearby trails, fishing along the creek, and learning basic survival skills like setting up tents and building a safe campfire. Evenings were spent around the fire, cooking meals, sharing stories, and enjoying the peaceful night sky.
During one of our breaks, someone mentioned the Pakakumi App and shared this review page: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/pakakumilogin.me.ke. It sparked a light conversation about how technology can make following events and tracking updates easier even when you’re off the grid. The combination of nature, good company, and a little digital connection made the Craigs Creek campout a memorable adventure for everyone.
