For Summer Camp 2015, Troop 850 will return to Camp Davy Crockett located northeast of Knoxville, TN. The dates are June 14-20 and the cost including transportation is $275 per Scout and $50 per Adult (same fees as 2014). Payments should be made to Troop 850 and the first payment of $100 ($50 for adults) is due on February 24 with the balance due by May 5.
All Scouts and Adults are required to complete a Medical form signed by a medical professional. A link to this form is provided below.
Also provided is a link to the 2015 Leaders Guide for Camp Davy Crockett which contains many of the details about Summer Camp. Information about merit badges offered and the schedule for classes can be found on pages 9 – 11. Page 15 has details on programs for older Scouts. Please note, some extra fees are charged for certain merit badges and programs.
The merit badge classes are scheduled between 9:00 – 12:00 and 2:00 – 5:00. Scouts should have a schedule with no more than 1 free period during those times and include at least 1 Eagle required merit badge. More information on Merit Badges can be found at www.meritbadge.org .
We will register for merit badge classes as a Troop, so when you hand in your deposit include your merit badge selections by completing the “Merit Badge Sign-up worksheet” on page 27 of the Leader’s Guide.
Adult participation is critical for us to have a successful summer camp experience for the Scouts. By only charging $50 for adults, the Troop will pick up much of the costs in order to encourage adults to attend.

We have scheduled Troop 850’s annual Dutch Oven Campout for the weekend of February 6-8 near Hamilton, Ohio. This will be a joint campout with Troop 654 of the Izaak Walton League and they will be hosting our Troop on their property north of Hamilton (450 Bessinger Road, about a 40 minute drive).
The Scouts will compete with the patrols of both Troops by preparing a 3-course meal in Dutch Ovens for themselves and the judges. The winning patrol will have their names engraved on the plaque in our display case. The Scouts will complete an orienteering course early Saturday and that night they’ll enjoy a movie and popcorn. Plus, we will be sleeping indoors!
Families of Troop 850 Scouts are encouraged to visit on Saturday and join us for dinner. Please list family members on the permission slip and turn in by January 27th. The fee is $30 for each Scout and adult for the weekend. There is no charge for family members coming on Saturday.
